Sunday, January 22nd, is the start of the Chinese New Year and will last until February 5th, 2023. This is the year of the Rabbit which means that this is the year of good fortune. Celebrated as the Chinese New Year, the holiday does come with superstition, especially as it relates to cars.

Good Luck in the Year of the Rabbit
- It is also said to have something red in your car during the Chinese New Year. Red is thought to bring the utmost luck this time of year. Some people will place a red envelope in their car with a note. It is believed that this simple act will bring prosperity for the year.
- Others who follow the zodiac will place a pair of oranges on the dashboard of their car during the Chinese New Year. The gift of oranges or tangerines is a symbol of riches and good fortune and is believed so because of the color of these fruits. Placing them on the dashboard communicates to others that the owner of the car is ready and welcoming of the new year.
- Lastly, throwing change under the seat or onto the floor of your car is said to bring luck to the driver. This tradition is a more recent one and is meant to provide the driver with extra money should they run out running errands or in a drive-thru.
